If the amendments to the press law are passed in their present form, the authorities will be able to refuse to provide information to the press without giving any explanation; the cut-off period for bringing a libel suit will be extended from six months to five years; a newspaper’s editor in chief will be held responsible for libel damages rather than the publisher; and it will be forbidden to publish “official secrets” and “business secrets.”In the first of the two amendments to the criminal code approved on 9 July, parliament repealed article 203, which protected journalists from prosecution for libel if they acted in good faith and there was no intent to defame. Under the second amendment, to article 309, any insult or criticism hampering the work of a judge or prosecutor is henceforth punishable by three years in prison and any journalist expressing an opinion on an ongoing trial can be sentenced to one year in prison.
Indianapolis, In. — A bill authored by State Sen. Jean Leising, Republican from Oldenburg, to establish a statewide maternal mortality review committee recently passed the full Senate by a vote of 49 to 0.Senate Bill 142 would require a health care provider or health care facility that has a patient who dies of a maternal mortality to report the death to the committee. The bill also allows the State Department of Health to review morbidity rates. SB 142 would also set forth immunity provisions for the provider or facility.Under the bill, maternal mortality refers to a death that occurs through up to one year after pregnancy that is related to or aggravated by pregnancy or management of pregnancy.“Too many mothers are dying during or shortly after the birth of their child in our state, and we need to find the cause,” Leising said. “Indiana’s death rate for mothers is currently twice the national average. Establishing this committee would provide us with the data we need to help find a solution to this issue.”SB 142 will now move to the House of Representatives.

Renesas Electronics announced two new PMBus compliant, fully digital DC/DC controllers that provide single output point-of-load conversions for FPGAs, DSPs, ASICs, network processors and general purpose system rails. The ISL68300 with integrated MOSFET drivers and ISL68301 with PWM output simplify designing power supplies for data center, wired and wireless communications, and factory automation equipment. The ISL68300 can drive discrete external MOSFETs directly, while the ISL68301 pairs with Renesas’ smart power stages or DrMOS power stages to create a complete voltage regulator solution. The ISL68300 and ISL68301 digital controllers feature a high-speed current share bus that parallels up to eight controllers in an 8-phase 240A+ current share configuration. Both controllers implement Renesas’ digital ChargeMode control modulation, which responds to load transients in a single switching cycle, and provides an inherently stable control loop without requiring external compensation. This modulation architecture significantly reduces output capacitor requirements and minimizes Vout undershoot and overshoot.Engineers can use the PowerNavigator GUI with the ISL68300 and ISL68301 to simplify power supply setup, sequencing, configuration and monitoring, including all device parameters and telemetry. Full schematic designs are completed in minutes, and the GUI with PMBus makes it easy to control the entire design and change features without soldering components or rework. To download the PowerNavigator GUI, please visit: www.intersil.com/powernavigator.In a typical FPGA power supply, the ISL68300 and ISL68301 digital controllers provide single output 10A to 40A+ for auxiliary rails, DDR memory, and system rails. The companion Renesas digital multiphase controllers use smart power stages to provide dual output 15A to 70A, or higher core power.Share this:TwitterFacebookLinkedInMoreRedditTumblrPinterestWhatsAppSkypePocketTelegram Tags: Chips & Components Continue Reading Previous Mouser: STM32H7 MCUs with Arm PSA protection for connected devicesNext IBASE: extended temperature SBCs powered by NXP i.MX 6Dual Cortex-A9 processor
BOSTON – Advocacy groups have sued Hulu in an effort to force the subscription streaming service to provide an audio track that helps people who are blind or visually impaired enjoy TV shows and movies. The federal lawsuit filed in Boston on Monday asks the court to declare that Hulu’s failure to provide services for the blind violates the Americans with Disabilities Act. The groups say Hulu has refused to do so despite repeated requests from advocates and blind customers.“They want to enjoy Hulu like everyone else in the country,” said Meredith Weaver, an attorney with Disability Rights Advocates, which filed the lawsuit on behalf of the American Council of the Blind, Bay State Council of the Blind and a blind Massachusetts couple.A spokeswoman for the Los Angeles-based Hulu didn’t immediately respond to an email Tuesday. The groups want Hulu to provide audio tracks that describe a scene, facial expressions or actions during a pause in dialogue. The audio track “describes what a sighted person might take for granted and blind or visually impaired person can otherwise only experience through whispers from a sighted companion,” the lawsuit says. The lawsuit also seeks to ensure people who use screen readers can use Hulu’s website and applications. Screen readers convey what’s seen on a website or apps using audio or braille.“Movies and television are pillars of American culture,” said Kim Charlson, president of the American Council of the Blind. “As delivery of such media transitions to video streaming services, it is critical that these platforms be accessible in order to ensure the inclusion of blind and visually impaired individuals in contemporary society.”Most major movie companies already provide audio description tracks, and audio exists for many TV shows and movies that are available on Hulu, the lawsuit says.Netflix in 2015 started offering an audio track for the show “Daredevil” that features a blind superhero after fans complained. In a settlement reached last year with the American Council of the Blind and others, Netflix agreed to expand its audio description offering and make its website and mobile apps accessible for people who rely on screen reading software. The Hulu competitor says it now provides audio description for most its original titles and some other TV shows and movies.___This story has been corrected to show that the president of the American Council of the Blind is named Kim Charlson, not Kim Charleson.____Follow Alanna Durkin Richer at @aedurkinricher . The ongoing exhibition of the works of artist Jyoti Tyagi are depictions of the artist’s inward transformation through her art. Thus, the process of art in her case is not restricted to mechanical applications of the tenets of art making but to a transfiguration of her forms into the language of the spirit and the soul. The art show will go on until March 17, at Rabindra Bhawan, Lalit Kala Akademi. While the spiritual process is ongoing as an undercurrent, what one witness on display are elements of the organic life process visible through her myriad feminine forms, entwined, uplifted, free-flowing and sitting in deep meditation. “These elements are going through an organic life process that brings about a metabolic change in our soul. It steers us towards righteousness and teaches us how to remain balanced, satisfied and centered, in the hustle of life,” comments the artist. These are then displayed in variable settings, visible through the elements of bhūmi (earth), jala (water), agni (fire), marut, (air or wind) and akash (ether). Incidentally, what she has left unsaid but distinct in her works is her close adherence to the Vedic principle of vyom or space, by making her central form distinct and the surrounds a pristine space, leaving the viewer unrestricted viewing opportunities. Also, the ocean depths and the inner limits of a candle are her chosen identities. Her message, therefore, conveys the vital principle of integration that governs nature and our lives. With a grounded philosophy, a strong figurative form and a choice of deep tones of the colour palette, this exhibition brings about a ‘sangam’ of thought, feeling and execution, into a perfect blend.

Thierry Henry recently interviewed the manager of the newly crowned English champions Pep Guardiola. The interview was posted on Sky Sports’ official website. One of Henry’s questions was:“How important was it for you to show yourself, not so much everybody, but yourself, that you can win this league playing your way?” Mourinho knows why City and Liverpool are so far ahead George Patchias – September 13, 2019 Jose Mourinho knows why Manchester City and Liverpool are so far ahead of everyone else in the Premier League. In an interview with the Telegraph,…“A lot. A lot, yeah. It was comfort in Barcelona. So, I was at privilege to have one exceptional team, my club, with the best football player in the world… but at the end, life is challenge. Challenge to go to another country – Germany, and after here. But after, people have doubts about that [Pep’s football philosophy], even myself, if I will be able to do that, to win here in that way. And, we did it. We did it.” Henry also asked Guardiola if there was a moment when he thought this season could be the one for his team. Pep surprised Henry by saying that a pre-season match against Tottenham, a club Manchester City couldn’t defeat the season before, was when he had the feeling that his lads have what it takes. The Spanish manager went on to say that he even told his players at half-time and after the game that they need to maintain that level of play, hungry and aggressive with and without the ball.Pep was visibly relaxed, satisfied and, most of all, relieved that he was right, proving his doubters wrong.
