Local Community activist and Letterkenny Candidate, Finn O Donnell has hit out at Donegal County Council for what he claims is the complete lack of housing and housing prioritisation for single mothers struggling to obtain a home for their children. Mr O Donnell claims in recent weeks has been contacted by single mothers who have been on the waiting list for up to 5 years without any word from the council on their housing needs. He said that during his canvass he has spoken to dozens of single mums regarding their housing situation and it is truly shocking. He said “There are mothers with two children or more living in small two bedroom houses that are clearly unsuitable for them. I have also seen much-needed repairs to homes that have been neglected not for weeks but for years. There is not only a lack of homes for single mothers but also a lack of repairs that is the council’s responsibility”The Community activist went on to claim that the prioritization of houses and those who need them is in dire need of review and that the amount of empty houses lying vacant in the town is unacceptable.“Everyday I walk around town and see empty houses lying there idle. I speak with mothers who need a bigger more suitable home for their kids. Why are none of our councillors talking about this and why is nothing being done?”Mr O Donnell goes on to say “If these struggling mothers are moved into a more suitable home, it doesn’t mean that more houses are taken up. It means that a smaller council house would then be available for fathers, single people or those with one child. The houses are there, The money is there from government and the council should be held responsible and accountable and I think we all should stand up against it.” Finn O Donnell is running as an Independent Candidate in the Letterkenny Local elections. He is a member of the Homeless & Housing Coalition and is campaigning heavily for housing in his local area.Single mothers hit worst by Donegal’s housing crisis – claim was last modified: May 22nd, 2019 by Staff WriterShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window)

Share Facebook Twitter Google + LinkedIn Pinterest The 2017 Ohio State Fair concluded its 12-day run on Sunday, Aug. 6 with an estimated 801,031 attendees entering the gates between July 26 and August 6. This count reflects a 13% decrease since 2016, when a total of 921,214 visitors attended the Fair.“The last several years have seen attendance figures grow almost annually, but total attendance does fluctuate from year to year based on a number of factors,” said Virgil Strickler, General Manager. “This year, of course, was not a normal Fair year. Opening Day’s tragic ride accident, which closed the Midway for several days, coupled with a few days of cool, rainy weather, certainly contributed to the dip in attendance. Nevertheless, we thank the hundreds of thousands of devoted fairgoers who supported this great end-of-summer tradition.”
When it comes to gimbal cinematography, which lenses should you use for which shots? Learn to cover all your bases in this video tutorial. There is a variety of shots you can capture using a gimbal, and different lens choices yield different results. So which lenses should you use?Below, I’ve listed my top three go-to lenses for gimbal cinematography — with a note about cost. You’ll find that each lens serves a completely different purpose based on what you’re capturing. Let’s take a look. Establish the Space with a Wide AngleA 16-35 Canon or Sony wide angle lens is a great focal length for capturing grand establishing shots. This is perfect for event coverage or travel videography that requires developing a sense of scope.Canon (expensive)Image via Canon.Sony (expensive)Image via Sony.Tokina (Cheap)Image via Tokina.Versatility in Your Tool KitMy favorite go-to lens for gimbal work is my 18-105 G Series lens. This is perfect for run-and-gun filmmaking. If I need a wide shot, I can zoom out to a wide 18mm. Or, on the opposite end, I can zoom in and capture close details on a 70-105mm. Filming with a longer focal length on a gimbal creates some beautiful movement in the frame. Since you’re condensing the shot with more detail in the background and foreground, the gimbal movement becomes much more dynamic.SonyImage via Sony.CanonImage via Canon.Get Nifty with a 50:Using a 50mm portrait lens is also a great way to get cinematic coverage. Kent Driscoll APTN NewsNunavut is not doing enough to prepare for climate change according to the latest report by the Auditor General of Canada.“The impacts of climate change are visible across Nunavut. We found that the Government of Nunavut was not adequately prepared to respond to these impacts,” said Jim McKenzie from the auditor general’s office. If Nunavut is not ready, then why not? After all, the government put a plan in place in 2014.“Human resource capacity challenges within the government and those make it difficult to sustain effort and attention,” said McKenzie. This is nothing new for Nunavut residents. In the last decade the auditor general’s office has issued reports on social workers, child safety, justice and jails. All of them found major problems. And each time the Nunavut government agreed and promised to make changes. But those changes don’t happen. One reason is there isn’t enough people to get the jobs done with 27 per cent of government jobs currently vacant. The auditor general’s office did suggest a way to get out of the understaffing cycle: pick fewer things and do them right.“I think it’s important, because resources are limited, that they try not to do everything,” said [email protected]
Kaepernick settled a 2017 lawsuit against the NFL in February in which he alleged collusion. The athlete, who filed the litigation with Carolina Panthers safety Eric Reid, claimed the league blacklisted the two after they began kneeling during the national anthem at 49ers games. The demonstration, which Kaepernick began during the 2016 preseason, was in protest of the killings of Black Americans by police. “I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses Black people and people of color,” he explained to NFL.com. “To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder.” “If he’s good enough, and I think if he was good enough, I know the owners, and I know Bob Kraft and so many of the owners. If he’s good enough, they would sign him,” Trump said to reporters at the White House August 9 before heading to his Bedminster, New Jersey, golf resort for his summer vacation. “So if he’s good enough, I know these people, they would sign him in a heartbeat. They will do anything to win games. So I would like to see it. Frankly, I would love to see Kaepernick come in if he’s good enough.” By spring 2017, Kaepernick became a free agent and has remained unsigned ever since. His ongoing unemployment is something for which Trump has taken some credit. The president even called for any NFL star who knelt during “The Star-Spangled Banner” to be fired. To Trump, kneeling rather than standing as the anthem plays is a sign of “disrespect” to “our flag.” Days after Colin Kaepernick declared he’s ready to go back into the NFL, President Donald Trump appeared to give him a vote of confidence — at least somewhat. Trump’s remarks on Kaepernick, who has not responded to the president, come two days after the free agent quarterback indicated he’s gearing up to get back to work as a signed pro football player. On Twitter Wednesday, the former San Francisco 49ers player said, “5am. 5 days a week. For 3 years. Still Ready.” Kaepernick’s actions drew fierce criticism from Trump, who became one of his biggest detractors. The tweet accompanied a video of Kaepernick doing a weight-heavy workout that said he’d been denied work for 889 days. Speaking to reporters Friday, the leader of the free world said Kaepernick ought to have a shot at coming back to the league if he’s up to par. “It was reported that NFL owners don’t want to pick him up because they don’t want to get a nasty tweet from Donald Trump. Do you believe that?” Trump said at a Kentucky rally in 2017. “I said if I remember that one, I’m going to report it to the people of Kentucky. Because they like it when people actually stand for the American flag, right?”
