COUNCIL MOUNTS LORRIES WITH SNOW PLOUGHS IN ANTICIPATION OF FREEZING CONDITIONS

first_imgDonegal County Council has confirmed it has mounted its 21 lorries with snow ploughs and will be on standby as snow is forecast from today.Various weather channels are predicting Donegal could have up to 25 cms of snow over the weekend. The council says it will tweet regular information on its winter weather website as well as keeping the public fully-informed of road conditions if they deteriorate.The new website is also fitted with a system which can send back images from around the county to keep the public updated with conditions at various locations including Killygordon, Gaoth Dobhair and Bundoran.The council says it is fully stocked with grit and salt in preparation for what could be the first snowfall of the winter.“Temperatures will drop and it is going to be a bitterly cold weekend,” said a Met Eireann spokesman. He added: “There is a high risk of a very cold week ahead with some severe frosts.
