STAR PREVIEW Arsenal v Everton

first_imgArsenal had a rocky start to the season – and the tenure of Unai Emery – with back to back defeats but they have managed to find their feet and now face Everton on a run of four wins in what could be an action-packed game.It was always going to be tough for the Gunners as they faced last season’s wide margin Champions Manchester City and then a Chelsea side with a 100% record this season and judging them prematurely would be unwise. Their four wins on the spin against lesser opposition haven’t entirely convinced, but there have been positives as well. Alexandre Lacazette has been an integral part of their attacking play with two assists and a goal already, but now Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is coming to the fore with a brace in midweek against Vorskla Poltava in addition to a crucial goal in a win at Cardiff. In midfield, it’s increasingly difficult to see why the excellent Lucas Torriera isn’t a starter already, with Matteo Guendouzi, Granit Xhaka, Aaron Ramsey and Mesut Ozil the starters so far. Ramsey has made a strong start to the season whilst Ozil scored off the bench on Thursday.Everton started the season strongly, with a good draw against Wolves and then a win against Southampton, but things have since become frustrating for the Toffees. They were in control against Bournemouth before a red card for Richarlison was followed by two goals in five minutes, and they couldn’t break down Huddersfield a week after.Their defeat to West Ham – the first time that the Londoners had won this season – was frustrating even during an injury crisis that still plagues them although Yerry Mina could make his debut.Arsenal v EvertonPremier League 16:00Sky Sports Main Event / PL HDHEAD TO HEAD RECORD(Maximum 10 matches)FEB 2018 PREMIER LEAGUE Arsenal 5-1 EvertonOCT 2017 PREMIER LEAGUE Everton 2-5 ArsenalMAY 2017 PREMIER LEAGUE Arsenal 3-1 EvertonDEC 2016 PREMIER LEAGUE Everton 2-1 ArsenalMAR 2016 PREMIER LEAGUE Everton 0-2 ArsenalOCT 2015 PREMIER LEAGUE Arsenal 2-1 EvertonMAR 2015 PREMIER LEAGUE Arsenal 2-0 EvertonAUG 2014 PREMIER LEAGUE Arsenal 2-2 EvertonAPR 2014 PREMIER LEAGUE Everton 3-0 ArsenalMAR 2014 PREMIER LEAGUE Arsenal 4-1 EvertonBoth these sides are better going forward than going back, and they have not had boring seasons.
