(Photo by Harry How/Getty Images)Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence capped off a stellar freshman season with an outstanding performance in the Tigers’ national championship game win over Alabama on Monday. In doing so, Lawrence already made himself the favorite to be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Before that happens, he still has some business to accomplish in college. He is already the early favorite for the 2019 Heisman Trophy, and ESPN’s Mark Schlabach made a bold prediction this morning that Lawrence will actually win the Heisman twice. That means Schlabach is calling for Lawrence to win the award in 2019 and 2020. The only person to win the Heisman in back-to-back years is Ohio State running back Archie Griffin in the 1970s.Griffin is still the only two-time Heisman winner, so Lawrence would be joining an exclusive fraternity if he takes the trophy home twice. At 6-foot-6 and 205 pounds, Lawrence has a rare combination of size, arm strength, mobility and intelligence. Even better, he’s one of the most grounded 19-year-old kids you’ll meet.[ … ]Lawrence is only going to get better. He will lead the Tigers back to the CFP in 2019, winning the stiff-armed trophy as a reward. You can read the rest of Schlabach’s predictions for 2019 here.It should be a lot of fun seeing Lawrence and Tua Tagovailoa duke it out for the Heisman next fall.last_img
